MATERIAL - The Torrent Jacket is made from a 3-layer AEGIS WORX® treated on a honeycomb rip-stop fabric. The rip-stop material makes this garment abrasion and tear resistant, to give you years of faithful service. The Torrent is incredibly lightweight, only weight 1.1kg for a size Large.
FUNCTIONALITY - The Torrent features amazing freedom of movement with offers exceptional functionality for farmer and anyone working out in the elements. It comes with a 2-way heavy duty YKK zip, so you can open from the bottom up to allow more freedom of movement for your legs when sat on a quad or horse. Internal to the sleeve cuff's, a neoprene internal cuff is added to offer a snug closure for your hand to stop rain or wind blowing up your sleeve. The outer sleeve cuff also comes with an adjustable velco cuff. A strip of highly reflective material is incorporated around the Torrent Jacket, to help keep you safe and seen in dark conditions from both in front and behind.
POCKETS - The Torrent has a 2 very large, deep pockets on the outside and 1 large internal chest pocket with zip to keep your notebook, phone or radio close to hand.
PERIPHERY HOOD - Last but not least - Swazi's legendary high periphery vision hood. With internal foam coated wire on the hoods outer rim so allow the hood to act like a visor to be moulded to fit your head to stop rain from reaching your face and eyes. There are 3 adjustable and lockable pull cords built into the hood to allow you to change the size and fit of the hood without impacting your peripheral vision.
What is AEGIS WORX®?
AEGIS WORX® is an innovative new fabric made up of three technical membrane layers on a tough yet light honeycomb rip-stop material to make The Torrent Jacket windproof, waterproof, breathable, lightweight and very incredibly durable. Much like Gore-Tex, AEGIS® provides absolute protection from rain, snow and wind, but most importantly offers enhanced breath ability for the wearer.
AEGIS® is made from an eco-friendly 80/20 DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that repels water/rain. 80/20 DWR means that the garment is 80% water-free in spray tests after the garment has received 20 washes.
Its water proof rating is 20,000mm. The minimum standard for a jacket to be waterproof is 1,500mm so a jacket with a waterproof rating of 2,000mm would be suitable for moderate rain.
Its breathability rating is 10,000g/m2 24hr. Breathability, in a few words, refers to how well (or poorly) a fabric allows your sweat (or, in technical parlance “moisture vapor”) and body heat to pass through it from inside to out. 10,000g/m2 24hr is the ideal measure for more active use in high-output activities, including hiking, farming, hunting and mountaineering.
