MKM’s unique double Possum and Merino wool layer system enables you to maintain your optimum body temperature at 36.6°C by trapping heat with the insulation layer of Possum fibre and repelling wind with the Merino layer. Products, such as their Tasman Quarter Zip Fleece, using the dual layer system are high performance, designed specifically to suit an active, outdoor lifestyle.

    Possum fibre is unique in that it has a naturally hollow core that allows it to trap air and retain heat providing extraordinary insulation quality, approximately a 30% more warmth retaining ability than Merino wool alone. When combined with high crimp, fine Merino wool, Possum fibre produces ultra-lightweight garments that are luxuriously soft, extremely warm and resistant to piling. MKM Original sources all of their Merino and Possum fibre ethically and sustainably from New Zealand, which is spun together by Wool Yarns in Lower Hutt, NZ.

    Did you know, Possum fibre will not freeze, even when exposed to periods of prolonged cold? This makes it the only fibre on the planet known to have the same characteristic is Polar Bear fur. It has approximately 30% more warmth retaining ability than Merino wool alone. MKM's clothing offers a unique blend of possum fur and high-quality merino wool creates a piling retardant fibre.
